Abstraction and non-objection have always spoken to my artist soul. Thus, I have found there is an enormous challenge to create pieces that not only speak to the artist but also resonate with the viewer. Working in this manner is like going on a journey without a map. There is no reality for reference; thus, I must sense the direction the painting is presenting to me. This close collaboration produces a non - predetermined visual harmony.

I am a contemporary, collage and mixed media artist. I draw all of my inspiration from paper, paint and odd ephemera (aka “stuff”). But, my real obsession is shape and design. Experimenting with the unique properties of mixed media always frees my mind to explore and use the allure of many alternative abstract and non-objective results.

When I begin a piece, I don’t work from sketches, but I look inward for guidance. Thus, I go with the flow of what I see in my materials. And because of the various materials I put together, I always work in layers. The ongoing creative adventure happens for me from the first layer to the last. During this process I might find one layer that disturbs the dynamics of the whole piece. That means in order to create a quality piece, I must go back and change all the conflicting areas, until I feel the newly created piece is totally finished and able to tell its visual story.
